All our students have the ability to earn badges for participation in school activities. The students take responsibility for getting signed off and are awarded badges in assembly. There are five levels of badge (red, blue, black, silver, and gold) with only the most involved and motivated students achieving silver or gold!
Throughout the year there are different art extension groups that are offered to those students with an interest or talent. In some cases these groups will contribute to our school environment by producing a piece that can be displayed around the school. In 2023 the students are working on a mural for the side of the school hall.
Every two years we have a school play. This is run by our dedicated teachers and support staff and provides an opportunity for our students to extend themselves in the performing arts. In 2023 our production is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The Auckland Primary Principal's Association Choir is a group that train and perform with many other schools from around Auckland. Their performance at the Town Hall at the end of the year is a fantastic evening and opportunity for the students to sing at a professional venue in front of a large audience.
These music lessons run once a week with qualified music tutors during school hours. Students of any ability level are welcome to participate as the lessons are catered to the needs of the students. It does not take long for students to begin making a reasonable sound, and we find that often students continue to develop their skills at high school. There is a cost associated with these lessons. We currently offer: keyboard, guitar, tumpet, and trombone.
In Junior Chef, our keenest cooks take part in a 'MasterChef'-style cooking competition. The competition is always fierce and the food increasingly spectacular as the numbers are whittled away each week leading up to the grand final!
